Dsquared Uomo SS2010 Preview

Photobucket

Here is but a preview of what's to come in the SS10 range from Dean and Dan. I've always been a fan of their denim. How they get it to look the way it does I don't know-- and how one affords to buy a few pairs, well... who cares. They're distressed in the right place and all the bits and bobs are just enough! I wish Diesel would start making the ice wash as shown above. I've been quite bored with their denim-designs of late.

Don't forget to swing by the Dsqaured Online Store for some shopping. If you're like South Africa who don't have a Dsquared store at your disposal, then this store is perfect for you.

Dsquared online store now open!

The fashion gods have answered my prayers. Well sort of. Dsquared2 who I love with all my heart have now opened an online store. They deliver worldwide but have possibly forgotten to add a little country called South Africa. We don't get Dsquared2 here anywhere and I'm desperate to fill up my wardrobe with some more of Dean and Dan.

The twins also shot a video to mark the opening and as if anyone is surprised they included a naked male model. Follow this link to get your 'shop on' and let me know of your successes! Go on now... shoo.

I cannot wait for the new collection. Spring seems to me to be their better runway show every year. I need a new pair of Dsquared jeans pronto. The fit is always unparalleled and the worn-in detail make their jeans ready-to-wear with any basic tee for a cool, casual look.

Fashion Flashback pt. 3

At Diesel I had the freedom (and resources) to experiment with my style without any judging eyes. People generally understood us to be so fashion forward that they didn't question our choices. It was such a fantastic phase for me because I was experiencing so much and studying every look book to understand why things were put together the way they were.

My first expensive purchase was a pair of tapered Dsquared jeans. The type with a lot of extra denim in the rear. I was so transformed by them that I was literally searching everyday for more. Markhams was the only store at the time to stock somewhat trendy items for a lot less. I bought the waistcoat for R100 which is nothing! It still fits and hangs in my cupboard but I don't wear it anymore... for now anyway. I'll wait till less people are wearing them again. The top was an Abercrombie Grandad shirt I got from the states, the belt is (still) my favorite black braided basic.

Fashion Flashback

I thought you readers might get a chuckle from this. It's from two years ago when I was so heavily into fashion I couldn't contain myself. Every day was a reason to get dressed up, even this particular night when we were just going to Beaulah in GreenPoint (My best friend wore a ball-gown-esque dress from Diesel for an event earlier that night so at least we looked matched).

At this point waistcoats had just come back into style and I was one of the first few brave fashionisto's to try it out. I was trying to bring Sexy back! The jeans are Dsquared, the waistcoat was from Markhams (a sad, sad version of H&M if you will) and the jacket was a gift from a friend who made it himself. Will wear the coat again and take a shot for you guys. The whole look made me look ready for a Western flick. Ah and the Bandana I turned into a Neckerchief! Good times.

Britney Spears teams up with Dsquared!

Imagine that! My favorite designers worked with my favorite pop star to make these amazing costumes for Britney's hugely anticipated comeback tour. Last night marked the first stop in the world tour entitled 'The Circus: Starring Britney Spears' in New Orleans. Sadly I was not there but the video footage is proof enough that she's back. Choosing Dean and Dan was a very smart move.

"We are enormous fans of Britney, and have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to collaborate with her," the designers explained. "We searched for a different interpretation for this tour, starting with the traditional idea of the circus and then abandoning it." and later went on to say "We wanted to create something much more provoking and indecent...something animalistic and primal," the duo said of their inspiration, which, although based on the Circus seems to have more than a little in common with the lady herself. "We are confident that this tour partnership, an autobiographical tribute for one who has always been in the spotlight: scrutinized, watched, imitated, photographed, criticized and loved, will be an enormous success." For such risque outfits she really pulls it off with her hot new body.

Blog Alert -Kate Loves Me

Model turned Actress - well we've seen that. Model turned singer? Tyra Banks ruined that for us, and now model turned Blogger: Peyalo Diaz and his mega blog "KATE LOVES ME". It includes thousands of photographs with an Espanol write up on each, but we love it anyway. It really gives us a look at what life must be like for such a boy.

We could hate him purely on his beautiful chiselled looks and all the places he gets to see year round but the main reason (aside from the free gifts he gets from designers like Vivienne Westwood) would be his friendship with Dean and Dan! Known for their use of uber-sexy models it's quite a compliment for Mr.Diaz to be a part of their line up for Dsquared.

You have to give it to him, he may be pretty but it's all in the name of fashion and entertainment.Click HERE for the experience.

Dsquared Fall 09

I wait for two things to come around every year, one is my birthday, naturally and the other... is for the newest Dsquared collection! I was introduced to the twins years ago when I first worked for Diesel (who were opposite D2) and have been in love with their designs ever since. Their designs seemed to embody the quirky fashion sense I had hoped to acquire. I got my first pair of their jeans in 2006 but shortly afterwards they closed down and I didn't get a chance to buy another pair!

I keep hearing stories about D2 coming back but who knows. What I do know is there is a market for them, perhaps they should consider buying smaller collections.

In this new season they used a lot of black and white as their base, adding only a few specks of colour here and there. A little safe perhaps? Either way I love this seasons use of vintage leather jackets and vests. I resist the urge to add them all but here are my favourite picks of the Fall 09 collection:
