Natalie Portman Acts for Education in Kenya

Being pregnant and gonna have her own baby soon, seems to make Natalie Portman having a greater care for the children. Together with Free the Children foundation, she's trying to create a better future for the girls in Kenya.

Natalie Portman has launched the Power of a Girl initiative, which is having goal to raise funds for the Kisaruni Girls� Secondary School in the poverty-stricken Narok South District of Kenya. Portman said that she started the initiative because she is "deeply concerned about the lack of educational possibilities for girls around the world."


With women comprising 70 percent of the world�s poor, investing in the education of girls is one of the best ways to end the cycle of poverty.� - Natalie Portman


Since early February to May 1, Power of a Girl is giving the chance for young women in the age of 13-21 from U.K and North America to register in www.freethechildren.com/girls to participate in the fundraising.

The top five fundraisers will be invited and asked about the importance of helping girls through education. The winner will receive the Rodarte dress that Portman wore to the American Film Institute gala premiere of Black Swan, plus the opportunity to travel to Kenya during the summer of 2011!
